Photo Enteries

The first image below is called “Hear My Strength” This mom is in the throws of labor, trying different positions to help her vbac continue. I hid in the corner behind the computer (black to the left) and there is a wall to the right. It was a perfect spot to catch just the two of them. I love how attentive dad was to mom the whole time. Look at that smile of encouragement!

This entry is called “Colors of Birth” I just love this image seeing the contrast of blood, meconium and the blue pulsing chord. Plus all the helping hands of midwives, nurses, dad, grandma and doula all around!

“VBAC Success” is one of my favorite images of the year ( well I am attached to them all, but I digress) the emotion that filled the room after she delivered her baby was palpable. Mom worked hard and got the birth she dreamed about. It is so important to research and find the best options for you and your birth! This image was taken at Burdett Birth Center in Troy and and the midwife was Shelby Robertson, CNM, of Capital Region Midwifery. Shelby and the nursing staff were awesome! Just look at the smiles and emotion!!!

My first postpartum entry is called “Hi Mom” I just love how baby is checking out his new world on moms chest with one eye open. Not only is baby delicious and darling, but I think my favorite part of this image is mom’s and grandma’s hands, touching him so tenderly.

Hi Mom

This last image I am happy to announce made it to the top 20% of all the birth images entered. The competition is amazing, with some of the most talented photographers I know. It truly is an honor to have an image make it to the top 20% ! And I love this image so much, it just reminds me of having my babies, so relaxed and snuggly after nursing. That is why I called this image “All Done” because when babies are done, they are done, even with in an hour of their birth!
